ENGLAND HILL is in the heart of one of the most charming towns in North America - the Victorian village of Knowlton, in Quebec's Eastern Townships (just across the Vermont border and less than an hour's drive from Montreal). It is located on Lakeside, also known as England Hill, where one of the town's foremost merchant families, the Englands, had their residence in the early 19th century.

In addition to antique shops, factory outlets, designer dress shops, gourmet restaurants, cozy cafes, and award-winning inns and B&Bs, Knowlton boasts year-round activities for the whole family. Fun-filled events during Victorian Days (the third weekend in May), when merchants don period costumes, celebrate an important part of our heritage.

Every fall, the famous Brome Lake Duckfest attracts tens of thousands of visitors to this otherwise quiet village. The festival showcases local musical talent and, of course, Brome Lake Duck as the "dish du jour". Knowlton is also blessed with a lively theatre life at Theatre Lac Brome, with professional repertory theatre all summer long and amateur and semi-professional companies performing during the rest of the year.
